BOGOTA, Dec 11 (Reuters) - Colombian state oil firm Ecopetrol (EC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) has set an output target of 600,000 barrels a day of crude and gas and will invest around $6.92 billion next year, according to a company presentation on Friday.

Ecopetrol recently said its production this year is expected to be more than 490,000 bpd. Colombia, Latin America's No. 4 oil producer, says its total output in November was around 720,000 bpd.

"This budget is in line with the strategy to produce 1 million barrels equivalent per day by 2015," Ecopetrol President Javier Gutierrez during the presentation.

Ecopetrol based its investment figure on a price $65.57 per barrel of WTI crude.

Of the investment total, 93 percent will be destined for Colombia and the rest for operations overseas. Ecopetrol plans to seek $3.5 billion in financing for next year from various sources.

Gutierrez said a debt operation would take place in the first quarter of next year depending on the company's needs.

The plan shows Ecopetrol intends to invest $1.29 billion in refineries in 2010.

The company, which is 89.9 percent controlled by the state with shares listed on the Bogota and New York markets, in October said its third-quarter earnings tumbled 70 percent, hit by lower oil prices and the appreciation of the local peso.
