New monkey species faces extinction in Colombia. The species was observed and researchers claim that new deforestation threatens the monkey. The new species has an isolated population size, which makes it difficult to locate the monkey.

The species is at risk due to the cutting of forests that are its home. It is called the callicebus caquetensis, and is the size of a cat with grayish-brown hair. What sets it apart from other types of titi monkey species is its lack of a white bar on the forehead.

Deforestation is a threat to this new adorable red-bearded monkey and other species as well. In addition, these animals are threatened by smugglers. The monkeys are often captured and sold on the black market as exotic pets. This newly found species is already an endangered species.

Conservation International (CI) is a nonprofit organization headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, which seeks to ensure the health of humanity by protecting Earth's ecosystems and biodiversity. CI's work focuses on six key initiatives that affect human well-being: climate, food security, freshwater security, health, cultural services and species contribution. The group is also known for its partnerships with local non-governmental organizations and indigenous people.
